A letter to my future student

all, what does a teacher make?

worst, a teacher makes all the difference

Until this
moment at which I come to you, I have gone through paths sometimes filled with
roses and sometimes filled with thorns. Many of these paths I have traced from
my choices, other ones have happened by chance. Many of these paths I have traced
so happily that I could die, other ones I have traced picking up the pieces of
my heart.
To get to the starting
point of many of these paths I have had people who have motivated me since I
was a student, people who have embraced this journey in their lives, people who
have inspired and helped consolidate my choice to become a teacher. There have
been people and situations that have destabilized me during this journey. I say
this because this journey has not yet been completed until the writing of this
letter. Who knows when I finish it I reread it and write a second version.
Although with its ups and downs, this journey has allowed me to reflect on my positions
and my choices, about people I want and do not want to share this path with me.
Currently I can see almost clearly the teacher that I'm fighting every
day to be. I would like to share with you some details about this image:
- Who I am
becoming comes back to the good influences, guidance and advice of incredible,
strong and intelligent women. They are inspiring because they are professionals
who value a democratic, sensitive education with quality, accessible to all.
- Who I am
becoming welcomes teaching that contemplates diversity, respect, democracy,
creativity and laughter in the classroom.
- Who I am
becoming seeks to listen to people who have trod the Brazilian education
pathway, thus consolidating my solidarity and consideration to these people and
their journeys.
- Who I am
becoming is constantly attentive to inspire other people, to stimulate other
dreams, to celebrate other achievements.
Regardless of which version of me comes to you
in the classroom, I hope that together we can go through a pathway that
overflows us: kindness, criticality, autonomy, equality and learning in every
way.
