YOU SHOULD VISIT SANTA CATARINA

Snow in Leoberto Leal
Santa Catarina is a state in the south of Brazil, standing out for its beaches, mountains and traditional parties. Santa Catarina is known as a little Europe in Brazil, especially because of the European colonization.
In summer, this state receives too many tourists, a great part of them are from neighboring countries, like Argentina and Uruguay. The most famous beaches are Joaquina (great for surfing) and Jurerê Internacional (known for its nightclubs) in Florianópolis, Balneário Camboriú, Bombinhas, Garopaba and Imbituba.
In winter, the visitors go to the mountains to see the beautiful landscapes covered in snow. At this season, the highlight is also the tradicional parties like Festa do Morango (Rancho Queimado), Festa do Milho Verde (Santo Amaro da Imperatriz), Festa do Maracujá (Araquari), Encontro Cultural das Etnias (Jaraguá do Sul), Strudelfest (Guabiruba), Oktoberfest (Blumenau), La Sagra (Rodeio), Festa Per Tutti (Ascurra), Festa Nacional do Pinhão (Lages) and so many others.
The tourists who like extreme sports need to visit Praia do Campeche (kiteboarding/kitesurfing/paintball), Canasvieiras (scuba diving), Lagoa da Conceição (paragliding), Praia de Ibiraquera (kiteboarding/kitesurfing), Rodeio (Tirolesa K2mil), Apiúna (rafting) and Ibirama (rafting).
The ones who also like Art and History, should go to the Joinville Dance Festival known as “The Biggest Dance Festival in the World”, according to Guinness, that has been happening since 2005. There are a lot of museums, too:  Museu de Arqueologia Costão do Santinho, Museu de Arte de Joinville, Museu Casa Fritz Alt, Museu de Arte de Santa Catarina, Palácio Cruz e Sousa, Museu Anita Garibaldi etc.
As a resident of Santa Catarina, I assure you visiting these places is not at all a waste of money and time. You will enjoy it!
